Studying at this University has changed my perspective on art and what I used to think it was. Studying art and design at College was very competitive and strictly restrictive, educational mostly.
The first day I attended lectures , I payed attention to how my new teachers presented themselves, how they talked about their life and experiences with art and what it meant for them. I was impressed how non chalant they were about coursework and generally speaking, since then they have managed to not display anxiety in any way, they have been supportive and understanding. At difference with my previous school, freedom and independence is one of the things I have been given entirely and I can admit that I haven't felt pressure since this course started. I have managed to make very good conversations with few of my teachers, making me want to speak up more , be more confident and create new connections.
They manage to give feedback without make me feel like I somehow failed the task, and they get straight to the point, explaining well what you could improve for your own personal growth.
I personally did not expect to meet so many nice and talented classmates, when we walk around in class we get to see each other' s art work and never once I haven't been impressed and amazed by how different our minds work, our different ways of seeing things and portraying them through illustration. I got to observe and learn so much from both my teachers and people in my course, its very intriguing and fulfilling.
Moreover, whenever I needed help with sorting out documents or student finance , all the people I have spoken to took care of the issues and helped me through it all and giving me the support I needed at the beginning.
Finally, I haven't finished this course yet as I still have two more years to go and this is just my first year, but I am genuinely happy I decided to study illustration here and fully satisfied, it allowed me to meet amazing people who now are my closest friends and changed my point of view on many life aspects.
